Ying and yang

Somethings have been bugging me but to keep the blog from becoming all negative, I will offset the negativity with an element of life I like.

Bad

The use of “gate” behind everything. This really speaks to the stupidity of the press. Now it stems from Watergate, but Watergate was the name of the hotel. The break-in and cover up had nothing to do with water. Do you understand this very simple concept press? To me the tipping point was the use of “Gate” in describing whether Sarah Palin was booed on Dancing with the Stars. (Who really gives a shit anyways?)

Good

Thanksgiving is just around the corner for us Canadians. It is my favourite holiday, built around enjoying food with family.

Bad

Referring to the World Trade Center as Ground Zero. Prior to September 11, 2001, Ground Zero was commonly referred to as Hiroshima, the very first use of an atomic weapon on people. Well over a hundred thousand people were killed, either during the blast or due to the effects of the radiation. Now this is not in any way meant to diminish the deaths on 9/11, they were indeed horrific and tragic, but merely to put things within context. Hiroshima being referred to as Ground zero makes sense due to the fact that it brought the dawn and first use of atomic weapons. 9/11 was not the very first deaths by terrorists within history or even within the United States. (Google McVeigh, The Weathermen for starters.)

Good

My yoga practice of late. I feel fantastic, both from a physical standpoint and from a centering of my mind standpoint.

well if it's any consolation I don't know any actual american that refers to WTC as Ground Zero - and yay! for your yoga practice! I'm getting the itch to resume mine!
