Weekend update

Saturday was all politics. Daniel and I helped my brother-in-law canvass for city council. It went well and Daniel took control on a couple of houses. It is something to watch an 11 year old kid canvass for votes.

Judging from the lawn signs, my brother-in-law has a shot at victory. From a guy that has been a fuck up for most of the time I have known him, the last few years he is pulling himself together.

Fantasy football wise it was a fairly good weekend. I have won two and have an outside shot of winning the third league. The one that I am behind in, if I lose I am 0 - 3, but would have won two games with a proper selection of players. I drafted with the same methodology, so it just goes to show. Brett Favre is going to be cut and I will pick up someone useful.

Cooking wise I made a great pasta dish that has Italian sausage, proscuitto and fennel along with orzo pasta. It is real comfort food and Daniel likes it as well. He ended up taking the leftovers for school lunch. Here is the recipe

Fry up garlic, onions, green peppers and fennel (anise) and after they soften add chopped up Italian sausage (I use hot) and proscuitto. Cook it slow to release those beautiful juices. (aka fat) Then put in about a cup of orzo, coating it in the grease. Add in bits some chicken stock, (about 500ml or so) which you can mix with some white wine. Cook slowly until the liquid is all added and absorbed.

I Wonder Wye said...

That dish sounds great. I like everything in it. Your BIL must not be too much of a screw-up if he's winning the election; congrats. The fantasy football gig is intriguing -- I haven't known anyone actually involved in it...
